Sassy Susie

Try a New Technique #162

Inspiration Challenge #121
Happy Saturday and Good Morning !!!
Today's SCS challenge is to make a card inspired by something in your home. It could be a pillow, hand towel, floor tile, fabric, or maybe another piece of art. I have this "Create" displayed in my stamp room and I used it as my inspiration.
The wall in my room has this mustard color, so I just picked up the colors from there. The small flowers I used were stamped in Whisper White, DSP Mustard, More Mustard and So Saffron paper using Basic Brown. I used Aqua painter to color the Flowers stamped in WW, and Versamark pen with the rest. The Simply Said flowers were stamped repeatedly and colored the flowers with White Gel pen.

Paper: More Mustard, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, So Saffron, DSP Mustard
Ink: More mustard, Basic Brown Chocolate Chip, White Gel Pen, Versamark pen, White Craft

I added the Jelly roll Glitter pen but of course it doesn't show at all, but it has that shine IRL. I did the same thing for the small flowers. The background was using the Pretty Petals and I outlined the design with White Gel pen.

Party-ing in Vegas

Admit Two (2)
Happy Tuesday !!! I am still pretty tired from last weekend...too much partying in Vegas (lol). From the time we got there, it has been non stop and you kinda just go with the flow. We saw Fergie's concert at Mandalay Bay, and all I can say is that "It was Fergilicious", a band named Carney for the opening act. It wasn't really my kinda concert but the seat was the best. We met Fergie's Mom and Dad who were seating behind us. The highlight of the evening was when my DH told me that he felt something spilled behind his back. He wasn't kidding when I saw red wine stain on his blue polo shirt. Oh well, that's what you

get when you party all night.
We watched also some impersonators which was pretty hilarious. We went cosmic bowling at Red Rock and scored 164 and 141 which was an okay score since I have not bowled for years. I ate a lot, and I mean a lot. We went shopping, too (that was a given when we go there). We also got to watched the boxing fight between Pacquiao/Marquez on DVD at my sister's house, which was gruesome but can't stop watching it.
So that was pretty much why I was tired and has not posted for the last few days. I felt bad not posting but I was having too much of a good thing to feel really bad. And you know what they say, what happened in Vegas, it never happened.

Altered Box

Door Prize Winner !
On our monthly Demo meeting, we always do a Door Prize. I won last month's door prize. I finally got the chance to upload the pics. This altered box is a creative work of Diane, aka the Queen of Glitter. She used the Simply Scrappin' Crew Kids Girl DSP. I just love how she designed this.

She used a chipboard using the Fine Cosmo Stampin' Glitter.

I love the colors on this. I have to remember this so I can use it in the future.

Bloomin' 3-D

Color Challenge #158
Happy Tuesday to all !!!
Here is a card that I did for the Color Challenge
on SCS. I love orchid Opulence by itslef but I get
stuck at times on what I would combined it with.
I am not fond of today's color challenge but I think it worked out quite well in the end. NO DSP here, only because I really do not have the pattern papers that I could work with. The main BG was stamped with the words using my Stamp-a-majig. I used my Spritzer tool to have that distressed look. The sage panel was stamped with the flower with Sage color.
The main flowers were stamped 3 times, and trim to achieve that 3-D effect.
Thanks for stopping by.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful
Paper: Sage Shadow, Orchid Opulence, Kraft, Glossy White
Ink: Staz-on Black, Sage Shadow, Orchid Opulence
Accessories: Ribbobs, Brads
Tools: Paper Piecing tool, Spritzer, Aqua Painter, Ticket Punch, Dimensionals, 1/16 punch
Stamp-a-majig.

3-D Tip: After you trim the pieces to your flower, it adds so much if you curl it a bit with a bone folder. Always use Glossy white to get that shiny look.

Exciting News !!!!

I have been holding back for the last few weeks about this wonderful news, and this will be a perfect time to share it with you.

I received an e-mail from Heather inviting me to join her Design Team. It was such an honor that she considered me to be a part of her design team . I e-mailed her right back and said YES !!! (after I got over the shock and after reading her e-mail out loud just so I really understood what it meant, lol). When I had time to reflect on this, I knew then that this will be a great opportunity for me to be a part of something new and exciting. I am really looking forward to be working with Heather and with a group of wonderful and talented stampers.

Sweet of You

Inspiration Challenge #119
Hello and Good morning !!!
Here is the inspiration for this card. I remembered that I have this boot from Flower Filled, so I based my inspiration around it. The flowers I used is from the set Vases in Vogue; they look like the lollipop swirls. The red flowers were popped in dimensionals, then added the stickles after I colored them. The boot I stamped in red and cut it out. I used the White Gel Pen to do the broken lines and adapted it around the main panel. I used the HPH for the buckle and the striped ribbon makes a nice accent.
I used this DSP because of the swirls.
Thanks for stopping by.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Flower Filled, Sweet of You
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Real Red, So Saffron, Whisper White, DSP
Ink: Wild Wasabi, So Saffron, Real Red
Accessories: Brads, Striped Ribbon, Stickles, HPH

On Growing Old...

Two of our very dear stamping friends (Janice and Colleen) are celebrating their birthday this March. When Colleen's sister brought this in class, what better way to share it with everyone, young or old.

My Favorite Things (It says lyrics by Julie Andrews)

Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in strings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillacs and cataracts and hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixident and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets and corn pads for bunions
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heating pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pains and confused brains and no need for simin,
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frame,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache,
When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,
Then I remember the great life I've had
And then I don't feel so bad.

Easter Eggs

Color Challenge #156
I did this card for the CC on SCS and also incorporated Beate's WSC37 challenge.
I have been making samples for this Eater set and I am getting some really great ideas. This chick was stamped 3 times. The left and right chicks were stamped directly on the So Saffron paper, The middle one I stamped on Very Vanilla and mounted in dimensionals. I also did paper piecing for the middle one and used So Saffron for coloring using Aqua Painter. I finished it off using Stickles on the middle chick and on the Primas.
Thanks for stopping by.

I had this old printed vellum that I did embossing on the back side and colored after. I used Purely Pomegranate for the butterflies and Blue Bayou for the dragonflies. I actually had to pull out my sewing machine to stitched the sides. I used Primas for this card and added beads.

A Thing of Beauty

Inspiration Challenge #117
WSC#37
I was inspired by the WSC of Beate. I ended up using this set, because it's been neglected eversince I got it. The flowers were stamped in White Craft and Ballet Blue. I added the real Red paper to make it pop and mouinted them in dimensionals. I tried to squeeze the flowers in the bottom and they were stamped randomly so I did not have to worry about keeping it straight.
