Happy Doodle
Color Challenge #138
My very first upload was Doodle This and so today I was inspired to used this set. For the color challenge Real Red, Tempting Turquoise and So Saffron, I decided to do a long card (31/2" x 7")
I knew exactly what to do for the background and the flower, the rest just came as I was trying to assemble the pieces. I used gel pen for the background after the swirls were stamped. I used a small piece of Very Vanilla and dry embossed with Cuttlebug. The happy was embossed, too with Irredescent Ice EP and the birthday was just stamped in Black Staz-on. I used stickles on
the petals on the flower and rhinestone in the middle.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Doodle This, Happy Everything
Paper: Real Red, Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron, Very Vanilla
Ink: Staz-on Black, Real Red, Gel Pen White
Accesories: Stickles, DS Ribbon, Red Brads, Rhinestone
Tools: Cuttlebug, Heat Gun, EP, Small circle Punch, Aqua Painter
Win My Blog Candy !!!
It's not too late yet, you still have the opportunity to win my blog candy. See the posting on October 27 , so stop by and play.

Tutorial # 1
Using the Large Oval Punch
This is using the large oval punch and you wanted to layer it with another paper.Supplies:
Large Oval Punch
2 colored paper
Adhesive
Brads (optional)
(see pic 1) Punch 2 colored paper (More Mustard) and 1 colored (Mellow Moss). The oval punch paper are all the same sizes.
(see pic 2) Glue the 2 More Mustard paper, one on either side underneath the Mellow Moss. This will give it a layered look. Add brads if desired.
Let's Give Thanks
Try a New Technique #140
The technique is Cracked Glass. I have done this technique once and have forgotten it since then on how to do it. I did have to checked the tutorial to refresh my memory. I used 2 strips of paper to do the technique, colored it first, then apply Versamark and use Glassy Enamel EP from SU, and set with heat gun until the powder is melted. To achieve the cracked glass look, do this at least 3-4 times. When done, leave in freezer for a few minutes. (The tutorial said 1-2 mins). I mounted all the panels in 3-D, including the sentiment. (see the mini-tutorial on the oval punch).
RECIPE:
Stamps: Autumn Harvest, Itty Bitty
Paper: Mellow Moss, Old Olive, More Mustard, Watercolor Paper, Fall DSP
Ink: Old Olive, More Mustard, Really Rust, Close to Cocoa, Always Artichoke, Versamark
Accessories: HPH Antique Copper, 5/8 Old Olive Grossgrain Ribbon
Tools: Large Oval Punch, Glassy Ename EP, Heat Gun, 1/16" Punch

Halloween Treats
Halloween Pencil Treat
I live in an area where there are lots of school kids. Every Halloween , I have tons of candy and fun treats to give away. This is one of the treats I did this year. I got these pencils and decorated them with the Batty for You stamp set . Stamp the image with a neutral paper, punched it out with 11/4 "Circle Punch. Use a colored paper and punch it with 13/8" Circle Punch. Get another colored paper or DSP to punch the Scallop punch, glue it on the lead part (some I did on the eraser part) of the pencil with glue dots. Attach the "Happy Halloween" saying with glue dots, too on the scalloped part. I might add some googly eyes later. The bottle is an empty jar of Nescafe that I just decorated to hold the pencils. I added ribbons, attached the circle images on a hemp string, and used those crinkly papers inside the jar.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Batty for You, All Holidays
Paper: Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard, Whisper White,Creepy Crawly DSP
Ink: Basic Black
Accesories: Gingham Ribbon, Black Hemp
Tools: Scallop, Window, and Circle Punches

Scaredy Cat
Inspiration Challenge #99
I am getting some stuff set up for Halloween, and this challenge just sets me in the mood. I have used my Haunting Halloween set quite a bit, so I thought I'd do something different. I was just browsing the SU catalog and I saw this card and I thought I'd cased it (page 26). I changed some of the features but the whole idea came from the book. Instead of the witch, I used the cat from Batty for You. I used my Creepy Crawly DSP and picked out those sayings. I used the Window Punch on the Pumpkin Pie paper and glued the sayings. The background was done with Brayer using the Bordering Blue pad. I masked the moon, stamped the Spooky Skyline and stamped it off prior to brayering. For my sentiment, I created a pocket, using the Window Punch. ( see pic). I used dimensionals on the black paper, so it will pull out easily. I added the stickles for my finishing touch.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Batty for You, SA Spooky Skyline, Autumn Apparitions
Paper: Basic Black,Pumpkin Pie, Glossy White
Ink: Basic Black, Bordering Blue
Accessories: Black Gingham and Tangerine Grossgrain Ribbon, Black Brads, Metal tag, Stickles
Tools: Brayer, Dimensionals, 1/16" Punch, 13/8" Punch,Window Punch,

Altered Soup Can
ULAS (Up Late and Stamping) Challenge
I have been checking some blogs and I just love them. Last night, I saw Diane's blog and decided to do her challenge. I have been saving some empty soup cans and this is what I came up with. I am hooked to this Dashing SU DSP, so I am using it...again. I punched the poinsettias using the 3/4 punch and used Real Red and Old Olive for the background paper. My Crop-a-Dile came in really handy for this job-punching on the can to secure my poinsettia flowers with eyelets all around. For the handle, I used Real Red and Old Olive strip of paper and used eyelets on top. I have some white wires and I twisted them and added it to the handle strip. The tag is stamped twice in Real Red and River Rock ink on Very Vanilla paper. I then trim the Real Red and mounted it on dimensionals. If you are interested in playing here is Diane's blog :
RECIPE:
Stamps: Perfect Presentation
Paper: Real Red, Old Olive,Very Vanilla, Dashing SU DSP
Ink: Real Red, River Rock
Accessories: Red Eyelets, Old Olive 5/8" Grossgrain ribbon, Wire
Tools: Crop-A-Dile, Tag Corner Punch, 3/4" and 1" Circle Punches
Oh Christmas Tree
Limited Supply Challenge #139 ( ooopsie!!!)
Well, believe it or not, this was my original submission for the LSC. I realized however that the BG was stamped with words/sentiment, so I changed it. I kep the same DP and just changed the layout a bit. The tree was stamped twice and I did mount the second for a 3-D effect and added the stickles, and the star, too. I was still pretty content the way this card turned out. What do you think?
RECIPE:
Stamps: Season of Joy, Perfect Presentation
Paper: Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla
Ink: Wild Wasabi, Real Red, So Saffron
Accesories: DS Ribbon, Stickles, Red Brads
Tools: Corner Tag, 11/4" and 13/8 " Square Punches, 1/16 Punch
Christmas Stockings
Limited Supply Challenge #139
I have not used this Event Full set since I got it , so for today's challenge, I used it to do the LSC- NO sentiment , just numbers. Well, I did used the number but I have a really itty bitty word after it. I hope that it would qualify for the challenge. I added Christmas bulbs, since my main image needed some spicing up . The stockings were colored in Aqua Painter using the colors Mellow Moss, Wild Wasabi, and Real Red, and then added stickles. The number was done using 3 Circle Punches. I am just loving the SU Dashing DSP and the SA So Swirly just makes a wonderful background without taking away the focus on the main image.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Event Full,Play on Words, SA So Swirly
Paper: Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Very Vanilla, SU DSP
Ink: Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Mellow Moss
Accessories: Miniature Christmas Bulbs, DS Ribbon, Stickles, Red Brads
Tools: 1/16 Punch, 13/8",11/4", 1" Circle Punches, Slit Punch, Tool Kit,Jumbo Handle

What do you think of my Header ?
I didn't think I will be able to work on this Header until yesterday. It was so much fun to put it together, because it was using stamps and "stuff" that I already have. The always STAMPIN'
in the background was an idea that Nancy Riley did as a Door Prize. She is awesome. So, what do you think?

To Someone Special
Ways to Use It #137
Today's challenge is a masquerade- or use of a mask on your card. Using sponge dauber, ink pads, and post-it notes, you can accomplished the background on this card. Start in one corner first and start working your way through. Cover one side, two sides and so on , so you will have variations in size and colors. The sponging works really well on glossy paper. The stamped image was embossed in black detail EP. I did add stickles and it has this shimmery image IRL.
Try it and see what you think.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Nature Sketchbook, Botanicals
Paper: Mellow Moss, Pale Plum, Basic Black, White Glossy
Ink: Mellow Moss, Regal Rose, Pale Plum,Black Craft,Basic Gray,Versamark

Wonderful Friend
Sketch Card #147 (Bonus SC)
This is another card I did using the same sketch but with a different twist. I used some primas on top of the flower and mounted it with copper brads. I used the swirl in the Baroque Motifs and stamped it twice with Groovy Guava first and then Encore Copper. I added some distressing to soften the look. I used the scraps DP in my sentiment panel and on the small BG panel. I used the organdy ribbon and tied copper cord for added accent.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Baroque Motifs
Paper: Really Rust, Brushed Copper, Very Vanilla
Ink: Groovy Guava, Encore Copper, Really Rust
Accessories: Copper Brads, Organdy Ribbon, Copper Cord,Primas
Tools: 1/16 Punch
My Dear Friend
Sketch Card #147
Don't you just love to experiment with colors ? I love to be able to mix and match colors. For this sketch challenge, I used Really Rust and River Rock. I have some left over vellum DP from SU with the copper leaves and I thought it would bring out the colors that I picked. I stamped the medallion flowers in Really Rust and distessed the edges; I then stamped 3 more flowers using White Craft ink in Really Rust paper, punched the center with the 3/4 circle punch and added the copper brads. I went crazy with the copper brads on the side of the sentiment.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Baroque Motifs,All Holidays
Paper: Really Rust, River Rock, Very Vanilla, SU DP
Ink: Really Rust, River Rock, White Craft
Accessories: Copper Brads,DS Ribbon

It's a Whole New Bloggin' World...
...for me! I contemplated...a lot whether I wanted to start a blog. I know the why but the how came to me later. In the end I did what a normal (middle-aged, pre-menopausal) woman does-acted on impulse and created a blog. I do believe I missed the fine print somewhere when they said it is as easy as 1-2-3 to do this. But on a serious note, I am motivated, excited and eager to get started. I am thrilled to be a part of stamping related blogs; and like others before me, I love what I do and it is natural to share what you love.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Please take time to stop by.
