  1. (O) I recently found your blog and love it! I've been visiting daily. My organizational tip-I used to keep my punches in a drawer but have so many now that I was wasting time trying to find the punch I wanted to use. So my dad made me a punch holder for my wall. It's 3 "L" brackets and a length of PVC pipe! Now my punches hang on my wall right in view and reach and it looks great (yes, even though it's PVC!)and it cost less than $4! Congrats & thanks for the chance at your candy!

  2. I have loved having my punches so accessible by placing them on the IKEA rods. The back of the door shoe hanger with clear pockets is another help

  3. (P)You can use just about anything in stamping. When my son was released from the hospital, they were going to throw away a bag of the sponges on stick that we used to moisten his mouth. I did not let those go to waste and rescued them from the trash can. They are wonderful and because they are on a stick, my fingers stay ink free. I guess that saved me money also (business tip) because I didn't have to buy sponges!

  4. (O) Tip - I used to emboss a little bit of my embossing powder on the lid so I knew what color is in the jar. Now I just turn them upside down and see through the jar.

  5. (B) Hi! This giveaway is great! I'm excited--thanks for the opportunity to win. As for a business tip (I'm not a demo or a business owner but as a customer I can give tips, right?) I'd say to stay in contact with your customers. Whether it's through your blog, email messages, open houses, parties, fairs, etc. stay present. I can't tell you how many times I've bought things from certain sellers because I've heard from them instead of their competitors. It makes a big difference to me and it shows you care about your business. Hope that helps! Lyndsay

  6. (O)My best organizational tip is a product. I bought the Clip It Up from Simply Renee and LOVE it. It's kind of pricey, but holds a TON of stuff. I have a two-tiered version, and I can put all sorts of things on there, from scotch tape, to acrylic sets, to stickers, Nestabilities, anything!

Congratulations on your milestone! You know I love your blog!

  7. Oh my...I am so useless with these sometimes! Organization? I use cheapy hooks from IKEA (50 cents each) and then organize my ribbon by color on my wall. I am very visual and will plum forget it if it is not right in front of me. I have to do the same thing with a lot of my materials (e.g. print out sketches and tack them to my board, punch holes in my DP [threaded through binder clips] and hang them off the wall, etc.). My DH thinks I am the messiest chick around and I think he's right!

  8. (O) I put my ribbon spools on a mutli-pant hanger and hang it close by my table.

  9. Congratulations on all your hits! It is well deserved! :)
    (O) When I have a demo, I prepare everything in advanced, write down the supplies I will need and put it in a plastic container so I just have to grab it when the day comes.

    Congratulations again! :)

  10. Love your blog!
    (0) My DH cut out metal sheets for me and used decorative screws to fasten them to the wall in front of my desk. i covered them with DSP and found little magnetic 'locker storage' containers. Now, handy items are right infront of me, but not using up the valuable desk space. So simple for him to do and made a world of difference for me!

  11. (O) My best tip is to put everything away when you are done creating so that you start with a clean work space the next time. Otherwise you spend too much time on clean up and less time on your specific project. Congrats on 200,000 hits and the chance to win your awesome blog candy.

    ReplyDelete
  12. (O)i like to organize my dp by color and by size of the scraps so that i can use up all the cut-up pieces before i cut in to the full size sheets. :)

congratulations on 200,000 hits and thanks for the chance to win!

  13. (B) I just recently stumbled on you blog - absolutely love it (now a favorite). I go to other blogs and sites to keep up on trends so that my customers have the latest information! And I'm not afraid to check out the competition because if I don't, my customers will!

Congrats on the hits - you deserve it!

BTW - I had to figure out the music for my blog, took a few days for me to get the hang of it but love having music play when I open the blog!

  14. (O) Mine would be I went out and bought a shoe caddy that hangs over the door. I fill each pocket with a punch and at a glance I can see what punch I need and they are out of the way so I don't need to be cleaning over them all the time. Mine holds 22 large punches or you can fit a bunch of small ones in the pockets.

  15. (O) I hae been big into organizing lately. I like to have things clean and know where they are. I've purchased several items from Store in Style for my desk and storage, and filing my CS! You can see pics on my blog! And CONRGATS on the hits!

  16. (o) I LOVE your blog, and just want to congratulate you on all those hits you got :)! For Organizational tips, hmm...I have used a small rod from Zellers for most of my punches. Also,I saw in Zellers they now have Scrapbooking storage items...like paper storage etc. For my Ink pads my dh made me a wooden ink pad holder, and a marker holder for me too :)!

  17. (B) just found your blog. Will be back to get to know you better. As for a tip, as a business owner I found out that people love FREEBIES and gifts... So I always send freebies to all my customers. It always a sweet surprise to find something unexpected in their packages. :)

    ReplyDelete
  18. (B) As a customer I like being part of a group that meets monthly so that each individual of the group gets a turn at being hostess. That said, I like a demo who places the orders promptly so that product is delivered in a timely manner. I don't like a delay in getting my order.

  19. (0) I have started organizing my paper to where I have two folders for my cardstock. One is a manilla folder which holds all full pieces of cardstock. I put that in a hanging file folder and put all scraps and pieces in front of the manilla folder so I look at my scraps first before I go to full sheets. It has helped me use up tons of scraps. Thanks for the chance at some awesome blog candy!!

  20. I don't know if my suggestions will help you, but for (O) my Ribbon Organizatization I tried to put them by Family colors, and also for stamps I always keep my Clear Stamps in big Photo Albums so I know all my Cs are in there.
I hope this info can help.

    Congratulations on your 200,000 hits.

  21. (B) I've found that being generous in my make and takes has been most beneficial to my business.
I'd rather have those gorgeous ribbons and embellishments on SOMEONE'S card than in a container in my drawer at home. Also being generous
in door prize drawings( I don't have to tell you about generosity!!) Thanks for the fabulous blog candy.

  22. (O) I just bought a huge file folder with hanging file folders... inside it I have put pieces of scraps divided by color. It is the best thing I had ever done. Before I had all the pieces in a basket, nearly impossible to find a piece of paper... now I simple go to the correct file folder and search there.

Thanks for the opportunity to win this FABULOUS prize!!!

  23. (O) I recently found your blog and have been silently stalking.. My orgnizational tip-I purchased dowel rods and cafe rod brackets put my spools of ribbon the rod and hung them on the wall over my work station. The longer the bracket the further from the wall for larger spools.
Congrats on the hits! Love your work

  25. (B) I have found that if I don't keep current with the books - it doesn't get done! Then I am scrambling at tax time to finish it all. I said I wouldn't do it again but I am already falling behind - There just isn't enough time in the day!

  26. great blog candy. Congrats on 200,000 hits! that is HUGE! Anyway...
B: When I worked at a retail store, I know the key was upselling, but, as it was upscale, we were not to be annoying about it, but smart about it. Ideas for pairing items and how things can work together really made customers feel like you were helping them instead of cleaning out their pockets. One tool "x" is useful, but it is so useful with this other one, "y", and you can really do more with the pair.
We used to have to play games doing it during the holidays, but it actually was really helpful!

  27. (O) I have you in my reader under Cream of the Crop. It's where the twenty or so blogs that I have found are the most worthwhile to come back to over and over.

I am big into recycling and never throw much away. I reuse so many things. As an example, I love those huge smelly candles from Hobby Lobby that come in the glass jars with a domed lid. I burn one or two constantly every day. I never put the jars in the recycle bin-I scrub them clean (goo gone works after soap and water for labels) and then dry them good. I have buttons, ribbon, flowers, small pots of paint and other oddities in them. Sometimes I buy candles without lids and i also use the jars for other things. Look at everything you are throwing away (or recycling as you should be doing) and maybe find another life for it.

  28. Business Tips - LOVE WHAT WE DO!! I truly think all things fall into place when people see we LOVE what we share daily! I don't think there is ANYBODY out there that could possibly love what we do more than us crazy crafters!!

  29. (O)I get my daily update of your blog to my e-mail. Enjoy the read and ideas. Now for my tip - if you use Nestabilities store them in a CD case. I cut strips of magnets and adhered them to the sides of the CD case. I can store two sets of Nestabilities in there and they aren't sliding around getting damaged.

  30. (O) I have been visiting your blog for months now. Fabulous. I use sheet protectors for a few things. I have full sheet protectors with labels and tabs from a SU punch with cardstock color attached. These are kept in a binder, each protector only holds maybe 5 sheets, so I keep the rest in the orignial bundles in a larger bin until I need them. This helps me remember which color goes with it's name. I use half sheet protectors to hold my clear acrylic stamps and set them on their side in a file kind of fashion in an open plastic shoe box size bin. I put a white sheet of paper behind the stamps so I can see them quickly. I also use double sided tape to attach smaller sets on acetate to transparencies, making them all roughly the same size.

  31. (B) I noticed you stated we could enter with as many tips as we like. I would have to agree with other entries about being generous. I would suggest that your generosity will get you along way. I am a member of a SU club and my demonstrator offers a spool of ribbon if I bring a friend outside the group. She is always willing to let us borrow a stamp set to try, and never makes us feel like we are using too much. In stores that not the big box stores that are not able to offer big coupons also attract me by offering 'freebies' whether it be a newsletter with their calendar and small template or offering something small when I purchase a certain amount. Hope this helps.

  32. It has been wonderful reading these comments also, lots to learn but my tip has been mentioned At staples I bought the little hanging file folders and labeled each one with a sample color of cardstock so that all scraps are put away and organised. It is so easy to find and really saves you paper as you usually have lots of scraps.Congratulations

    ReplyDelete
  33. (O) Just recently I bought a magnetic dry erase board and covered it up with designer paper. I also bought these little spice jars that have a magnet on the base and a see-through lid. I put all my embellishments into these jars and stick them up on my magnetic board so that I could see everything that I had. I tend to forget about stuff I have when they are stored away so they never end up getting used! I often end up with several things that are so similar and stuff keeps piling up and I run out of storing space! Now that I can see all my embellishments, they actual get used!
    Congrats on the blog hits!
(I have been a long time visitor, but am one of those silent stalkers, sorry! You do fantastic work!)

  34. (O) Here is my second tip, I'm not sure if you buy those clear $ stamps from Michaels, but what i do is store them in those sports cards collector sleeves and put them in a binder. They fit perfectly and you can get them at the $ store. For my other larger clear stamps I stick as many sets i can on a 8.5x11 transparancy sheet and into a page protector then into a binder.

  35. Hello,
(O)I have been one of those silent stalkers, I love your blog - very inspirational. My organizational tip is for my punches (I am a punch maniac) and I have a shoe organizer over the door in my stamp room with pouches that holds them all neat and organized and right there for me to see and grab at all times.

    ReplyDelete
  36. O I found keeping my small scraps out on my desk and visible helps me use them up. I have three mason jars on my desk. One for SU cardstock, one for dp and one for ribbon scraps. I always turn there before cutting up new pieces and have made a lot of cards using just scraps. Anything too large for the jar goes in my scraps drawer!!! CONGRATS!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Congratulations!!
    (O) 12x12 pads of paper sit perfectly in milk crates! I store the pad of paper upside down and I can flip through it easily. With the open handles on the sides of the crate, I can easily move them.

  38. Congrats on the blog hits!
Your work is AMAZING!! My favorite organizing tip is to make your own clip it. I bought a skinny curtain rod and hung it from the shelve above my desk. I added curtain clips on the rod and there you have it. It looks AWESOME AND does not take up any room on my desk! i LOVE it:).

(O)I have collected loads of brass stencils (love to dry emboss)so to keep organized I use a photo album for 4x6 photos to house my stencil. I also have my smaller clear stamps in the album as well.
Thank you for the chance at you blog candy

  40. (B) Keep your customers informed about order status and make sure the orders are done in a timely manner. It wasn't totally the demo's fault (someone took their time putting in their order), but I am STILL waiting on my order that was supposed to go in a month ago!

    ReplyDelete
  41. (O) I just recently re-prganized my craft room. I found my favorite part was my solf flowers. I buy Hydrangea bunches from Michaels and then I cut the stems shorter and store them in pretty vases. That way it decorates my room and when i want to use one I can just pluck it off.

(sorry if this is duplicate but it said there was an error and I dont see my last comment)

    ReplyDelete
  42. (O) I have been enjoying your blog for a while now - you do some gorgeous work! I have an organizational tip...To make a book of all the stamp sets I own (SU), I scan and print two copies of the sticker sheet before I do anything else with it. One copy goes into a book, so I can readily see what stamps I own, and the other gets cut down and put into the box with the stamps so that they find their way home if mis-placed!

    ReplyDelete
  43. (O) I love my pegboard because it keeps a lot of the things I use a lot right out in the open. I have 2 cats so I have to put everything away before I leave my stamping room. They haven't really done much damage (except chewing up my foam mat! and maybe losing one of my brand new unmounted stamp!) but I don't like to take the chance.

    ReplyDelete
  44. (O) I keep all of the items I need for certain embellishments together in clear Rubbermaid boxes so i can see what's inside. My embossing powders, heat tool etc. are all in one box. All my Holiday stamps, stickers, ribbon etc. in one box. All my adhesives in another box, and so on so forth. i also keep a desk organizer on my table for all the things i use every day, favorite scissors, adhesives etc.

    ReplyDelete
  45. (O) I feel out of place posting an organizational tip because that is far from what I am. But slowing I am trying to be. When I get a stamp set I stamp each one from the set on a piece of copy paper and label it. Then I put it in a page protector and put it in a binder alphabetically. That way I can just pull the book and look through it instead of trying to pull all of them out or remember what I have.

    Thanks for the chance.

  46. My husband has helped with a lot of organizing in the craft room, so I'll have to say that using wire shelving for small punches is a time saver. He placed the shelf right over the work table and I simply reach over for the punches. The larger punches are kept in a CD tower, which rotates.

    ReplyDelete
  47. (o) Love your blog - I keep each card, directions, paper, stamp sets ink, etc., in separate plastic storage cases that I found for $1.00 each when I travel to do workshops -- each table has all the materials in the pouch and it's easy for me to set up.

  48. (O) I've been coming to your blog for a long time now...and you have amazing goodies to share! Talk about amazing goodies...what awesome Blog Candy!! So here's my tip. I have one of those photo easels (or a recipe book easel) on my desk. I keep my SU catalog on it all the time - and I use it to place layouts/papers/instructions/etc. when I'm crafting so I can see it upright and it's out of the way of things. Did that make sense?! :) Anyhow...I got mine at Costco - it came in a box of 3 different sized...it's black wrought iron so it looks nice too.

  49. I love your cards, and this is no exception. Your work is absolutely gorgeous. thanks for sharing with us.

  50. O - I use Ikea rods for mr punches.a card organizer that spins that I found on Kiji and I use paper organizing slots that businesses use to organize my papers and stamps I stamp them on papers and put them in a binder so I know what stamps I have. I also store my unmounted stamps in a cd container. My ribbons I store in a big box that I have used big eyelets to allow the ribbon to come out through. My small remnant ribbons I roll on a clothes pin and put them in see through big jars that I display in my craft room.

Thank you for the chance to win the blog candy and congrats :)

  52. Your site is so inspirational with the different elements you use in you cards. Thank you so much.

  53. (O and P) This kind of fits in two categories. I cut 1 x 6 inch strips of whisper white cs and with a simple little stamp I will stamp my favorite color combinations. Under the little stamped sample I write the name of the color under it and put them all on a book ring. This gives me a ready reference of color combinations.

    ReplyDelete
  54. (O) I use a tool caddy from Pampered Chef to keep my scissors and pens/pencils in along with a few other things that I use frequently. It spins around so I don't have to reach across to get what I want. Thanks for the opportunity to win some blog candy. Thanks too for all the inspiration on your blog. Londra

  55. (O) This is probably basic, but it helps me a lot. I keep a notebook with all my stamped images. They are stamped according to catagory: Christmas, mice, flowers, etc. I also have in there stamped images that show all my ink pads and charts of all my colored pencils, chalks and markers. When I shop, I grab my notebook and I don't end up buying a color or image I already have. I'm thinking of adding a page of ribbon samples, too! Paper Doll

    ReplyDelete
  56. (O) I cut samples of all my cardstock 2 1/2 in. by 2 1/2 in. These are punched in the corner and put on a ring. I try to find an ink sample to match all these papers and attach a small sample. This helps when I want to make a card - I can instantly find the ink color to use. I recently added some ribbon samples to this same piece of cardstock. Paper Doll

    ReplyDelete
  57. (O) I had a large box of cards that I was saving for ideas, but I never looked through them. I decided to save them in a folder. I attach four cards to a piece of cardstock and slide it into a plastic sleeve. These are kept in a three ring binder. Most cards I just cut off the front. But if I wanted to keep the sentiment, I kept the whole card. These are put in catagories - Christmas, flowers, etc. Now when I need an idea, I can find one quickly in this binder. Paper Doll

  58. I'm always finding great card samples online. My husband showed me how to create folders on my computer. Each folder represents either a stamp set I have or a catagory such as cuttlebug ideas, floral and nature, cute critters, etc. I just have to copy and paste the samples I find and transfer them to the folder I choose. All these are now saved on a flash drive which will hold thousands of card ideas. So much easier than the past when I used CDs and disks. I also take photos of any cards I make and enter those in the catagory where they fit. HTH Paper Doll

  60. (O) I love your blog. My tip is this: I use a cd holder, the ones with the rods that go across and store my punches on that. You can hang it on the wall or it sits on your work surface.

  61. (P)When stamping with the Silver Encore ink pads instead of waiting forever for it to dry i just add clear embossing powder and heat set it.

Congratulations on hitting 200,000 hits! You are truely an inspiration.

  62. Congrats on your hits! Love to check out your blog!
    (O) I also keep my punches in a shoe holder that hangs on the back of the door. Good use of unused space. My DH made a wall shelf that has colums with shelves for my stamp pads and a large hole for the matching reinker and a smaller hole for the matching marker. I can find everything at a glance.

  63. (B) I've learned that you can't get discouraged. You might try to get a customer 20 times, and get no's but that 21'st time, when you get a yes, that's all it takes!

  65. B) Money Saving Tips: Our hobby can get quite expensive, so if you show your stamping groups ways to save money on some supplies (i.e. I use black gel paper pads for black matting or layering - it's lighter too), they appreciate little tips, and spend their money on the things they really want.

    Congrats on the 200K hits!

  66. B) Put specials on for your customers from you! They're called order building specials (to you). I don't live near stores, so if there were specials on, I'd likely buy more. i.e. With every stamp set ordered over X amount of dollars (i.e. $20), buy a classic ink pad for special price of X dollars (take $2 off). Take 10% from your stamp set and deduct it from the inkpad. They'll order ink and rubber and your total will go, so may your income or cheques or status. Use money formulas to figure out what you are willing to re-invest in your customer, and your customer will appreciate it!

    ReplyDelete
  67. B) Have one special event per year, a contest of your choosing, where one customer could receive 15% off their whole order. They place their orders first. You could have 2nd prize of 10% off whole order. It is a way to give back to your customers.

    ReplyDelete
  68. B) Do a charitable benefit. Using extra catalogues, go to your bank or a place of business where there are alot of women. Ask if they are tied into any specific charitable goals. While selling cosmetics someone in my bank was battling breast cancer and they were fundraising. I went in with a letter of intent, set up for 2 days, provided extra take home catalogues, a whole week to show friends and other branches in the area, and promised a percentage of all sales to their requested charity in honour of the woman we all knew fighting breast cancer. They were so appreciative they bought me a thank you gift and helped me. I donated more than 1/2 of my profits to their chairty and also had a basket draw.

  69. this is such a tough one. i have some great organizational ideas, but they've been posted :). i'm not in the 'business', but here's a tip you probably already know. 70. (O) I keep my ribbons hanging on my wall in white wire shelves that are supposed to go on a peg board type of system. My husband just clipped the back of the shelves with a wire cutter and was able to mount them on my wall with out the pegboard!!! it looks great~

  71. WTG Chat! Girl, you know I love your blog! It's full of so much inspiration and you are always so supportive of my work too! Thank you for that!!!
Mine tip would be (O) organization...since I've just started doing this myself...I started a seperate file folder, you know those cheap ones from Walmart for each colour family...that is where I keep my SCRAPS and I file them in the folders after each card. I dig in there FIRST before cutting into a new piece of cardstock.
Thanks for a chance to win this awesome blog candy!

  72. (O) It was becoming increasingly difficult to dig through my drawers to find individual stamps even though the drawers were labeled by flowers/holidays/sentiments etc. I went to a bag supplier and bought 10x 12 4 mil plastic ziplocks - inserted a piece of lightweight cardboard and proceeded to set the stamps on the board and slipped them into the ziplock. They all fit much better in the drawers and I can easily see just how many stamps I have :) Hope this helps others. Cheryl

  73. (O) Congrats to you on your milestone!! Well done!
My tip is how I store my paper, I keep it in a filing drawer and have a file for each color then inside the file I keep a manilla folder to keep all the scraps for that color.

  75. Congrats on the hits Chat and thanks for the chance to win some goodies! Love your wonderful creations.

    (B) Tip: Customer service has always been a big thing with me. In this day and age where everything is rather impersonal with voice mail, mass mail outs etc. making your customers feel like they aren't one of many is huge. Don't know how many down-lines you have so this may be impossible, but a birthday card would be nice or a thanks for your order little note is always a nice touch, or any other way you can make people feel known or appreciated.

  76. O Tip: I read this somewhere so it isn't my idea, but I just LOVE it. In order to make the most of all the stamps you own (and I think you may have just a few - lol), you stamp the image of each stamp/stamp set on a piece of blank paper and put them in a binder. You can organize the binder by them, or whatever works for you and then when you want to stamp you can flip through it to find the images you want. In addition, each set has a number applied to it. You have your sets by number and when you check your stamped image page it has the number on it as well so sets are easy to find.

  77. (O) I have a shoe organiser over the back of my craft room door. I keep all my large punches in it so I can see them all and easily find the one I want for the project I am working on. Love your blog. I visit regularly but rarely leave a message. Sorry.

    Hugs

  78. (O) My one new organizational tip is to buy plain boxes from a dollar store. I used the rub-ons to decorate the boxes but you could use pretty much anything to decorate them. I am making some today and will be putting letters (either stickers or rub-ons) to say what is inside each box. One will be for my Stickles, one for my ribbon pieces and one for larger pieces of ribbon that are not on spools. I started re-organizing my craft space yesterday and found I am running out of room in my cupboard. This way, I can display the boxes throughout the room and have more space in my cupboard for things that aren't so pretty!

  79. (P) I read one entry about the Encore ink and how to get it to dry by using clear embossing powder. I haven't tried this, but I have used an acrylic sealer. I stamp my image then step out to the garage and spray it with the acrylic sealer and let it dry for a little bit and it is done - no smudging. The first time I stamped something with encore ink, I waited for a week and it still wouldn't dry. So I tried the sealer and it worked beautifully!

  80. O- I don't have very many organizational tips except that I keep my paper is ABC order rather than in color families so when I'm using my color wheel, I can put my hands right on the exact color I need! My mind is too linear to think in color families, I guess! LOL

  84. Huge congrats on the 200,000 hits - so well deserved!!!

0 - one of the best things I've found for my punches is a shoe rack that has drawers. I can store all my punches and can easily find what I'm looking for just by pulling one of the drawers - love it!
